Sustainable Creation at MELIMELI

At MELIMELI , sustainability is a natural part of our DNA. We actively work to minimize our impact on the environment by choosing materials and

production methods that are gentle on our planet. By controlling the entire production chain, we can ensure high quality,

minimize waste and create furniture and fittings that last over time - both aesthetically and functionally.

On-Demand - Sustainability through Conscious Production

We believe in conscious consumption and want to reduce overproduction by producing our furniture and many of our interior items on-demand. This means that we produce in line with demand rather than mass producing and risking overproduction.

- Less waste - We only produce what is needed, reducing waste and unnecessary consumption of resources.

- Unique choices - Our customers can special order large parts of the range to get exactly the color and fabric that suits their home.

- Higher quality - By not rushing the production process, we ensure that each piece of furniture gets the care it deserves.

We see this as a responsible way to offer personalized, tailor-made solutions while contributing to a more sustainable future.

Responsible furniture manufacturing in Europe

Our furniture is made in Poland, where we work with local stakeholders to ensure sustainable and responsible production. One of our most important partnerships is with a local sawmill that uses wood from nearby FSC®-certified forests. This reduces transportation emissions and contributes to sustainable forest management.

Our factory is where the entire production process takes place - from joinery and metalworking to upholstery and finishing. By keeping everything under one roof, we can:

- Minimize transport and unnecessary emissions
- Use as much material as possible from each tree trunk
- Ensuring that each product meets our high quality standards

We regularly visit our factory and its suppliers to ensure that working conditions, materials and manufacturing processes are up to our standards.

More Design, Less Waste

We strive to use resources in the most efficient way possible. By planning production carefully, we can reduce waste of both wood and textiles. We reuse residual materials wherever possible and always co-freight our goods to minimize emissions. Moreover, thanks to our production in central Europe, we can keep transportation distances short to our main markets.

Fabric - A combination of Quality and Sustainability

Our textiles are carefully selected to be of high quality and environmentally friendly. We work with One Mario Sirtori, an Italian textile manufacturer with long experience in creating premium fabrics for the furniture industry.

Why we choose One Mario Sirtori

- Produces durable fabrics with a long lifespan
- Has a fully autonomous production line to minimize environmental impact
- Uses certified materials and gentle working processes

We choose materials based on both aesthetics and function - fabrics that age beautifully and contribute to a more sustainable interior.

Handmade Glass - A Timeless Treasure

Our glass products are manufactured at Reijmyre Glassworks in Östergötland, one of Sweden's oldest glass manufacturers. Here, each vase is blown by hand using traditional techniques, making each piece unique.

Sustainability benefits of Reijmyre Glassworks:

- Uses lead-free crystal
- Powered by hydro and wind electricity
- Recycles all glass that is discarded

- Environmentally friendly furnaces with no nitrogen oxide and carbon dioxide emissions

By choosing Swedish-made glass, we avoid long transportation and help to preserve an old craft tradition.

Ceramics - Crafts with Care

Our ceramics are produced with the utmost care in Gustavsberg's Porcelain Quarter by the artist Sabrina Vaino, but also by La Gabbianella, an Italian manufacturer with deep roots in traditional craftsmanship.

Gustavsberg ceramics - Scandinavian precision and durability

At Gustavsberg, our ceramics are created by skilled craftsmen who combine traditional techniques with modern methods to ensure longevity and minimize environmental impact.

How we reduce our environmental impact:

- Using stable, consistent materials to minimize waste
- Choosing colors and glazes without heavy metals
- Firing ceramics as few times as possible to Save energy
- Focusing on timeless design that lasts over time

Ceramics from Italy - Crafts and tradition from La Gabbianella

We are also proud to collaborate with La Gabbianella, an Italian ceramic manufacturer that for over 40 years has been refining its craft and creating unique, handmade objects with soul and history.

Why we choose La Gabbianella:

- Each product is handmade in Italy, making each item unique
- Uses traditional techniques passed down through generations

- Works with eco-friendly glazes and natural materials
- Prioritizes local raw materials and sustainable production methods

The ceramics from La Gabbianella are a tribute to the genuine craftsmanship and timeless Italian aesthetics. By combining Swedish and Italian ceramics in our range, we get the best of both worlds - Scandinavian precision meets Italian passion.

Whether you choose a handmade item from Gustavsberg or a unique creation from La Gabbianella, our ceramics are designed to last and be loved for generations.

Tiles - Certified Wood for a Sustainable Future

Our trays are made from wood from FSC® certified forests, which means we only use wood from sustainable and responsibly managed forests.

How our trays contribute to a better environment

- Wood stores carbon and is a natural, renewable raw material
- We only use certified suppliers to guarantee replanting

- Waste from production is reused to minimize waste

We have also implemented a rigorous resource efficiency strategy, where we recycle waste, use green electricity and heat our premises with wood waste from production.

Our throws are manufactured by Barker Textiles, where Zero Waste technology is used to create wool yarn from recycled production waste.

Benefits of our sustainable blankets

- Contains up to 47% recycled fibers
- Same high quality as virgin wool

- Reduced industrial waste and resource consumption

This is a step towards a more circular textile production, where we reuse materials to create new, beautiful products.

Transport - Efficient and Climate Smart

We actively work to minimize emissions from our transport operations by

- Co-freight our products to avoid unnecessary transportation
- Use our own trucks as transport hubs to optimize deliveries

- Having hybrid cars in our fleet and investing in electric car charging at our sites
