Susan Törnqvist, inspirer, interior designer and freelance stylist, lives with her family in a beautiful 1930s house outside Gothenburg. Susan inspires daily with her content, offering a glimpse into life as a multi-tasking parent of young children. The family's home is a lovely space in muted tones where we are happy that our furniture has found its place. Here you will find LUCA GRANDE, CARLA YIN/YANG, JOHANNA HEADBOARD and several smaller MELIMELI accessories. We became curious about Susan's home and her thoughts on interior design, so we called her for a chat.

What is important to you when decorating?
Harmony, that the whole feels harmonious and calm. If you manage to create a cohesive theme, the impression becomes very harmonious. I want my home to be comfortable and personal, because it's so important that it feels like someone lives in it. The home should have space for the most important things in life – family and friends.

How does your home reflect your personality?
My interior design style and my wardrobe look pretty much the same – same colours, same vision, and same materials in a way. I am probably an extroverted person who is outgoing, but in my home, I want to find peace, calm, and security. I strive for our home to be a calm, safe haven, which might be a contrast to my colourful personality? Our somewhat more subdued and calm home complements me. I probably wouldn't have managed a home that was too colourful; then I would probably never have found peace.

LUCA GRANDE, the perfect place for the whole family

Is there any piece of furniture that has been with you since you moved out of your childhood home?
Embarrassingly no, a few interior details but unfortunately no furniture. When we bought our first apartment, the economy looked a bit different and back then it mostly consisted of IKEA furniture. Now I think much more long-term and imagine that some furniture or lamps should last a lifetime.

What kind of music is playing from your speakers at home?
Oh, whatever the kids are hooked on at the moment, haha. We so rarely get to choose anymore, so I barely have time to keep up with Spotify's news. But if I had to choose, I would probably pick acoustic music, while Daniel is probably a house person. The kids choose pop. As you can hear, it's chaos.

What is important to you when choosing a sofa?
That the whole family would fit! We wanted a sofa with a timeless design that was cozy, deep, and where you could really curl up. Preferably with removable covers, primarily with the children in mind, but also so you can change it according to mood and feeling without having to replace the entire sofa.

You are such a source of inspiration for many, where do you find your inspiration?
Everywhere! On social media, in magazines, in nature, in cities, and on travels. Yes, definitely everywhere! Interior design always follows me in some way, and since I genuinely enjoy it, I gather a lot of impressions everywhere.

Finally, three quick tips when it comes to interior design?
Lighting, the common thread, and textiles. Absolutely the most important tips for creating a cozy, homely, and personal home.
