Michaela Forni, blogger, author, entrepreneur, and mother – is there anything she can't master? For over 10 years, Michaela has inspired and spread her understanding of self-love and heartbreak, and today she runs the lifestyle magazine FORNI. Together with her fiancé Damon and son Dante, Michaela has created a true dream home in their apartment in Östermalm, Stockholm, where several of MELIMELI's furniture pieces have also found a place. We called Michaela for a chat about interior design and their home.

How does your home reflect your personality?
It's social yet highly sensitive – just like me, haha! We have a home that is designed for living in and truly enjoying, but I am a highly sensitive person who also needs a certain calm at home. I think it's lovely that we've found that balance in the apartment, and it makes it the best place in the world!
You're involved in so much; how and where do you recharge your energy?
I actually get a lot of energy from being at home. It's my safe haven on earth and where I can relax the most. Otherwise, I get a lot of energy from spending time with my friends, my family, and my little baby.

Where do you prefer to drink your morning coffee and with whom?
At home, at the kitchen table, with Damon on one side and Dante in his high chair on the other. It's the best moment of the whole day for me. BUT I'd also say at a hotel in Southern Europe on a perfect warm summer morning. There's probably nothing lovelier than getting ready and going down for hotel breakfast when you're on holiday in Italy or France in the summer. The first sip of that frothy cappuccino, a view of the sea, and people chattering in Italian all around. That scent and feeling are like a drug to me, the best in the world.
When did you move out of your childhood home, is there any piece of furniture that has stayed with you since then?
Petra (Tungården) and I moved out together when we were 18 and 19 years old, respectively. Back then, we had candle holders from Indiska, IKEA furniture, and Petra had a large family photo above the sofa. I loved that time in my life, but the furniture stayed in 2008…

In Dante's room, Vivi Teddy is ready for bedtime stories and snuggles.
What kind of music streams from your speakers at home?
Damon listens to a lot of music, and we mix it up wildly. Three things that are often played are Håkan Hellström, The Weeknd, and Persian music! Nowadays, also "Babblarna's lullaby" – what won't you do to get the little one to sleep…
What's important to consider when decorating a child's room?
That it's practical and cozy. Nesting is an important and fun part during pregnancy, so you have to let yourself dream a little. I thought it was super fun to play with the balance between practical and cute, but also to decorate with things that would never be in an adult room – stuffed animals, little bunny lamps, and pictures with elephants on them. Oh!

In the living room, Luca Original has taken its place along with Nico rug, Vivi Striped and Alma Flowerpot
If your home were a person, who would it be?
It would be a mix of me and my fiancé. I really think our personalities shine through in our home!
Where do you find inspiration for your home?
Pinterest! And we've also just enlisted the help of an interior designer to really get the right feeling here at home. Which is the best decision we've made for our home!

Even the small details count, here our Yin/Yang Cushion
Finally, three quick tips when it comes to interior design?
– Don't hesitate to get help from an interior designer if you feel it's needed.
– Always balance practical with beautiful – if it's only practical but not beautiful, it's not harmonious. And if it's beautiful but not practical, the same applies!
– Good quality always wins in the long run!
